Regions Barahona, Bahoruco and Pedernales, located in the south-west, offering the richest biodiversity in the country, and the most striking natural contrasts. Where else can you find desert and lush pine forest, located an hour away from each other? In Barahona, Bahoruco and Pedernales, you can visit the unique environmental space - depression (Hoyo dePelempito), Lagoon (Laguna de Oviedo) and the city Kahot. 

 

It is a region of great beauty with a wide bay washed by the most beautiful beaches in the Dominican Republic, including San Rafael, Paraiso and Los Patos. 

 

Although the area does not seem such a big, south-west offers many different hiking trails and a variety of activities; that is why it is worth to stop for three or four days to catch familiar with all the major attractions. In the southwest, you should definitely visit Lake Enriquillo, the most symbolic landmark south-western region. The lake is famous for the fact that there is found a large number of crocodiles, iguanas and flamingos. The scenic road connects the coast beaches and tourist attractions, including Villa Miriam, Larimar mines, magnetic pole and Kahot. 

 

One of the most impressive spectacles - Depression in Pedernales (Hoyo de Pelempito), which is a geological depression in the mountains Neiba. Here you will find the beaches of Cabo Rojo and the famous beach of Bahia de las Aguilas, probably the most beautiful beach in the entire country.
